  • The next OLISSIPO Lecture titled "Bioinformatics Infrastructure in Bielefeld and in Germany" by Professor Jens Stoye from Bielefeld University, Germany was highly interesting for all BioData.pt members. The lecture is scheduled for April 22, 2024, at INESC-ID, Lisbon and will be broadcasted through ZOOM. Additional information available at the INESC-ID website.

  • This week, Inês, Mariana and Luciana participated in the "Impact and more workshop" within the scope of the ELIXIR Staff Exchange project entitled “Developing impact assessment tools at the node level and kickstarting environmental efforts within ELIXIR and ELIXIR Nodes” (SPARKLE). It was an impactful moment of sharing.

  • Gil Poiares-Oliveira and Jorge Oliveira were in Funchal this week to participate in the largest annual meeting of the Research and Higher Education community, the FCCN conferences. FCCN is the Scientific Computing Unit of FCT – Foundation for Science and Technology, whose purpose is to contribute to the development of Science, Technology and Knowledge in Portugal.

  • Last Wednesday, the BioData.pt Federated Human Data community met for the first time. Enthusiasm prevailed. More information about the community can be found here.

  • Last week, Mariana de Freitas and Jorge Oliveira attended the EOSC-ENTRUST kick-off meeting in Amsterdam. The meeting was highly productive and focused on the project objectives which aim to create a European network of Trusted Research Environments (TREs). During the meeting, several EOSC projects in TREs were presented along with how these projects will align with ENTRUST. BioData.pt will be

  • The Bioinformatics Open Days were held at UMinho last week. BioData.pt was one of the partners and had excellent representation. The program was enriched by the presence of Cátia Pesquita, Diana Lousa, and other BioData.pt members, who presented their work through oral and poster presentations.   • Our annual technical meeting took place in University of Minho School of Engineering this week. During the meeting, we discussed the opportunities, challenges, and needs of BioData.pt members. We had four active working groups that focused on different areas: Implementation of the metagenomics pipeline at Galaxy, Conclusion of OntoBrAPI, D-VAULT: Blockchain DataMarketplace, and Biosurf.org database update.   • ELIXIR-PT is well represented by Mariana de Freitas, Gil Poiares-Oliveira and Sérgio Matos at the hybrid meeting for the ELIXIR Training Platform co-located with a meeting for the Coordinators Triangle in Prague, Czech Republic. These are days of discussing and knowledge sharing.
